The presentation of the book eat well in the Marina Alta (Menjar bé in the Marina Alta in his version in Valencian) he gathered on Wednesday in Dénia a large representation of the different agents involved in the agrifood and gastronomy sector of the region. The work, not in vain, affects the debate about the present and the future of the activity linked to proximity products as the basis of a sustainable, prosperous economy that drinks from a tradition, heritage and an innovative desire that make it unique to the cuisine of the Marina Alta.

Eat well in the Marina Alta It goes far beyond what a guide offers. It is also, because it serves as useful guidance to know where to buy or taste products and dishes of the regional cuisine. Its main contribution, however, is that it offers a still photo of the gastronomic and food sector and mainly portrays, through elaborate reports, two things: the existence of a fabric of producers that can form a top quality pantry, nourished with oils, wines , beers, cheeses, sausages ... and the difficulties of all that production to reach the public in a world in which the big distribution chains take over the market.

A recent study by the Consortium for the Recovery of the Economic Activity of the Marina Alta (Creama) shows a devastating fact: 82% of the residents of the region are missing products from the region in stores and supermarkets. It is undoubtedly one of the brakes, surely the main one, for the strengthening of the productive activity with seal of the land.

The director and editor of the publication, Alfred Martínez, defended precisely the need to travel this road to enhance the value of the land and hoped that the book will contribute to open it.
