Next Friday, February 21st at 19:30 p.m., the Rotary Club of Dénia will hold a talk on the prevention of eye problems due to amblyopia (lazy eye) by the Pediatric Ophthalmologist Rafael Freiría Barreiro. The project "I see, I see, what do you see?" will take place at the House of Culture from Dénia. It is an awareness-raising initiative aimed at early detection of amblyopia in children aged 5 and 6.
Rotary International has had and continues to have the eradication of polio in the world as its flagship programme; fortunately, this prevention is not needed. For this reason, on the occasion of Rotary International's 120th anniversary, this project has been chosen, motivated by the increase in the use and abuse of technological devices that can cause problems if they are not detected in childhood. In Spain, it is estimated that between 2% and 5% of the population is affected by this.
The Rotary Club is launching this project in several phases: it begins with an informative talk on the importance of detecting vision problems in time, followed by the publication of an article in the local press that guides families so that they can carry out checks at home.
In addition, leaflets will be distributed in schools to 5 and 6 year olds, which include an interactive game designed to help families and education professionals identify possible vision abnormalities.
In addition, a viral challenge will be launched to encourage families to be alert to any signs of visual impairment, while Dénia City Council will collaborate with activities in educational centres. If any possible abnormality is detected, a vision specialist should be consulted.
We invite you to join this important initiative for the visual well-being of children. Don't miss the opportunity to attend the informative talk and participate in the interactive game, key tools to detect any visual problem in time and guarantee a life with good eye health. Your participation is essential to build a future without eye problems.
