Comunicate of citizens Dénia

After theThe unfortunate events that occurred yesterday morning at the Dénia Social Center, the Dénia Citizens Association, wants to express its most energetic rejection of the acts of ultra-right elements that tried to boycott the presentation of the book by national deputy Gabriel Rufián.

From the ideological antipodes that separate us from their ERC party, as well as their ideology, dialectical confrontation and insult do not fit in a democratic state like ours, where freedom of expression ends when respect for others is disregarded and will always be defended by CITIZENS. The display of pre-constitutional flags and ultra-democratic ideology, as well as fascist chants, must be completely eradicated from our society, and more from a city like Dénia, where through the centuries, we have been a meeting place for multiple cultures, as different in themselves as wealth they have given our people.

The freedom of power confronts ideas with the word and not with the insult, it should be the priority of all democrats, and when the easy thing is to call ourselves equidistant, we will continue to defend freedom of expression and the fight against extremes with the tools that we gives democracy, the word and our political actions. Outside of that, they will find Citizens in front of us, be they from the extreme that they are, from the right or from the left.

Finally, we want to highlight that a dozen people do not represent more than 40.000 dianenses that we are democrats and tolerant, open and hospitable with those who visit us year after year. That is why we are one of the favorite tourist destinations for all Spaniards, wherever they are from and think how you think, and that is the best example of the open and tolerant society that we are, regardless of whoever it is, whoever bothers.

This political game to mobilize the population to one side or the other would have to be punishable. Enough and get to work! That is what we need, not for them to create a climate of confrontation over outdated and outdated political ideologies.
