CEDMA celebrated the great night of the economy of the Marina Alta

01 March 2019 - 12: 15

The Business Circle of the Marina Alta Thursday held its annual gala awards ceremony to different companies in the region. An appointment that, while serving to recognize the work of the winners, becomes a platform for the demands of businessmen towards politicians.

This year with the presence, for the first time in this legislature, of the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, and in a new location, the Maritime station Baleària Port. Precisely the president of the shipping company, Adolfo UtorAs host of the event, he was the first to take the floor to welcome the guests and send a message of stability and calm to the political representatives. He asked them "to bear in mind that businessmen are responsible for generating wealth", and recalled the predisposition of Baleària for the municipality of Dénia, especially with the "frustrated bus station" that they have in their facilities.

The mayor is committed to public-private collaboration

Also for the first time in this term the mayor of Dénia had a voice during the gala, who took the opportunity to focus on the need to continue collaborating at a public-private level to get ahead of important projects such as Dénia & Marina Alta #TastingLife with a clear objective : manage to create a quality occupation and fight against job insecurity caused by the temporary employment in the region.

He also encouraged "abandon the confrontation and think globally and sustainably" and strengthen relations between the public administration and the private sector to meet the challenges of this territory.

The winners

The central part of the act was carried out by the delivery of prizes to the companies recognized this year. The first to collect their award were the representatives of the clinical Glorieta, who remembered their beginnings and the importance of the human team that has been part of the clinic during all these years, which have created a "family environment for doctors and patients".

He then collected the prize Carlos Fita, manager of the Shopping Center Portal de la Marina, which shared with the public its pride and the good health of the shopping center, which has become a space of coexistence and encounter in the region.

The third prize, and perhaps the most emotional, was for the Ferrer-Frogley family, collected by Janet Ferrer and her children, in memory of her father, Miguel Ferrer. The winners thanked the memory of their father, who makes 60 years ago began the life project in which they became Villas Ferrer and the Hotel La Posada del Mar.

Many demands in the last speech of Sonja Dietz as president

This will be the last legislature in which Sonja Dietz chair the CEDMA, a position he has held since 2011. As a token of appreciation for his work over these years, the Cercle surprised him with a souvenir prepared by AMADEM in recognition of his dedication for eight years.

In his speech, Dietz highlighted the importance of tourism of the Marina Alta at the regional level, and regretted the path chosen by the Council in relation to tourist rental accommodation after the approval of the Tourism and Hospitalitat de la Comunitat Valenciana Law.

The president demanded more agility in the procedures of the NIE in the region, as well as in the urban planning department of Dénia, which she recriminated to order urbanism at the expense of tourism and having been a year and a half without urban planning regulations. Dietz acknowledged that businessmen no longer have confidence in politicians and the administration, which he described as "inflexible and arrogant."

Ximo Puig confirms the autonomy of the port of Dénia

The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, took advantage of his speech, which closed the gala, to confirm the autonomy of the port of Dénia, thus becoming the first port of the Valencian Community to be autonomous. A fact that means that part of the benefits generated by the port will be reinvested in it and will convert the port into a dynamic element of the city.

Puig stressed that "the union is a key element in the progress of a territory" and that for this reason, the Generalitat will be at the side of the local administration and Dianenses businessmen in claims such as the free AP7 or the implementation of the Coast train.
