The Valencian Community 112 Emergency telephone number will integrate the Network of Assistance Offices for Victims of Crime as one more agency in its protocols for sending aid. This was announced this Thursday by the Minister of Justice, Interior and Public Administration, Gabriela Bravo, after the visit she made to the L'Eliana Emergency Coordination Center on the occasion of the European Day of 112.

Bravo explained that the Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response will integrate into the protocols for sending urgent aid the resources of the Network of Offices for Assistance to Victims of Crime "as one more agency than those that operate with the ward as Security forces and bodies, emergency health services, firefighters or Civil Protection ", he assured.

To do this, the necessary action protocols will be developed so that 112 can mobilize, if required, the resources that the Branch Network has "with its more than 170 professionals", which makes it the largest in Spain.

The Network of Offices for Assistance to Victims of Crime will be included in the CORDCOM network of the Valencian Agency for Security and Response to Emergencies, which integrates 120 public organizations, from local police to health services, firefighters and civil protection.

Bravo recalled, on the occasion of the European Day of Telephone 112 and that this year celebrates its 30th anniversary since the beginning of its deployment throughout Europe, that in the Valencian Community "it has answered 75 million calls since its launch, with a average of 9.000 a day to manage between 1.000 and 2.000 incidents derived from them ".

With this initiative "this resource is made available to the public and will thus reach any corner of the Valencian Community".

In this sense, the councilor recalled that there are 33 offices in Valencian courts "and this year we will reach 37" where a comprehensive service is offered because, in addition to the legal assistance required by victims of a crime, they also provide psychological help and social assistance if necessary.

In its three years of operation, the network has served almost 70.000 people, of which more than 32.000 were women victims of gender violence or domestic violence.

112, decisive in the COVID-19 crisis

On the other hand, the councilor has highlighted that the health crisis caused by COVID-19 has had a special impact on 112 since "one in ten of the 3,1 million calls that were registered in 2020 were related to the pandemic and for this reason, the service was reinforced as of March ".

Among other measures, 112 has been reinforced with 73 more operators, specifically trained to deal with the health emergency; Four new operating rooms were enabled, work shifts were increased by 25%, special protocols were adopted in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the number of telephone lines was expanded to provide service to the 900 number enabled by the Ministry of Universal Health for the health crisis.
