Baleària joins forces with a Norwegian company to connect the Peninsula with the Canary Islands

10 September 2018 - 12: 43

The dianense shipping company Baleària continues to expand its reach. The next challenge will come before the end of the year, when joint routes between the Peninsula and the Canary Islands begin to operate with the company Fred. Olsen Express through its new project Canary Bridge Seaways (CBS).

Starting in mid-November, CBS will initially offer three connections per week between the Peninsula and the Canary Islands, with two vessels that will guarantee a comprehensive, reliable and quality service, both for passengers and vehicles and for cargo transport.

The directors of both companies were present at the signing of the agreement. The one of Baleària, Adolfo Utor, said that this alliance supposes "an opportunity for both companies" that operate in different geographic areas, but to those that unite them, "the seriousness, innovation, and excellence in the treatment and care of interest groups, especially customers". Utor remarked that "We face this new challenge with a great company, Fred.Olsen Express, and we do it with enthusiasm, and convinced that in our future in common the best is yet to come".

The general director of Fred. Olsen Express, Andrés Marín, has stated that "This project combines two companies that share the same philosophy aimed at the pursuit of excellence, with the sole purpose of offering their customers a quality service, but also seeking to offer a global service throughout the national territory. All this it will be a before and after in maritime transport in Spain, and not only on this route that is about to be a reality ". And he added that "I could not have found a better partner for this new adventure than a shipping company as important as Baleària".

Fred.Olsen Express and Baleària are working to integrate their commercial and management systems to facilitate the reservation of tickets through all the usual channels of both companies. Likewise, they are also taking advantage of all the possible synergies, both in the commercial and operational areas and management, which result in a higher quality service for customers.

This project is initially focused on the Peninsula-Canary traffic, between two companies that operate in distant geographies and that come together to start a new traffic. With this alliance, both shipping companies will gain competitiveness in their respective markets, by offering excellent comprehensive services of greater quality and reliability to their passengers and their distribution customers.
