Neighbors' doubts about travel and transport agencies increase during the health crisis

The Municipal Office of Consumer Information of Dénia (OMIC) has attended since January 2020 more than 330 inquiries, 75% of which have been done electronically.

Most of the inquiries so far this year have been related to the telephone, household appliances, financial entities, travel agencies and transport sectors. Consultations in these last two sectors have been increased due to the health crisis of COVID-19.

Dianenses consumers have submitted 215 claims, all of them processed by the office, obtaining in more than 50% of cases a favorable result for the claimant. The total amount obtained for consumers through OMIC's claims management amounts to 19.832 euros so far this year.

The OMIC in times of COVID-19

The results of the OMIC during this period of health crisis are "more than satisfactory" for the councilor responsible for the service, Elisabet Cardona.

From March 14 to the present day, 120 claims have been registered and processed, which represents more than half of this year's total.

During this period, around 290 queries have been answered electronically, all of them referring to different sectors such as travel agencies, transport, mainly air, telephone companies, financial entities, insurance ...

The amount obtained for consumers through the claims processed in this OMIC from March 14 to the present time amounts to 14.129 euros, which represents 71% of the total achieved in the course of this year.

The Municipal Office of Consumer Information (OMIC) of the City Council of Dénia offers information, help and guidance to consumers and users of the municipality, as well as the processing of claims that arise in matters related to the consumption of goods (household appliances, vehicles , toys, clothing ...), supplies (electricity, gas, telephony, internet ...) and services (insurance, transport, travel, banks ...). It is a totally free service for people registered in the municipality. Since the start of the pandemic, it has been provided electronically, by phone 628614679 and email vfuster@ayto-denia.es. One day a week, on Tuesdays, the public is attended in person, by appointment only. This is processed through the website of the town hall www.denia.es.
