In the 60 years of the last century, the old Brotherhood of Laborers and Cattlemen of Dénia, later Dénia Local Agrarian Chamber, acquired a steamroller machine for the asphalting of agricultural and rural roads of the municipality.
In 1985, a complete restoration was carried out in the workshops of the old vocational training institute, carried out by the students of the automotive department. During its last years of operation it was used by the municipal department of Works and Services of the City of Dénia.
Now, half a century after its acquisition, the destiny of this old machine will be embellish some corner yet to be determined of the city. For this, students of Basic Vocational Training in vehicle maintenance of the IES Maria Ibars, with the collaboration of the Association of Auto Repair Workshop and Automobile Associations of the Marina Alta (ASETRAMA) and the City of Dénia, work in the workshops of the Department of Transportation and Vehicle Maintenance of the institute.
The management and financing of the project is the responsibility of ASETRAMA, which has indicated that the objectives of this project are to promote industrial archeology in the municipality, participate in the beautification of the city and collaborate in the training of students of Transportation and Maintenance of Vehicles of the Maria Ibars contributing the material means that favor her training and motivation.
The Councilor for Culture and Education, Rafa Carrió, recently visited the workshops accompanied by the president of ASETRAMA, Antonio Reig Giner, the secretary of the association, Guillermo Bellot, the director of the IES Maria Ibars, Josep Antoni Server and the head of the department of Transportation and Vehicle Maintenance of the center, Noel Barber.
