A total of 50 students from the training cycles of Cooking and Gastronomy, Kitchen Management and Restoration Services of the IES Maria Ibars have completed the Responsible Service training program organized by the Department of Addiction Prevention of the Dénia City Council, through the Unit for Community Prevention in Addictive Behaviors (UPCCA) and with the collaboration of the Hazkunde entity.
The Responsible Service program is a national program for the prevention of drug addiction in the hospitality sector, an initiative of the Government Delegation for the National Plan on Drugs, which has the participation and involvement of the professional and business community of the hospitality sector. It promotes safe, responsible and quality leisure.
The training was given to future hospitality professionals with the aim of providing them with tools that allow them to acquire the skills to reduce risks associated with possible abusive consumption of alcohol or other substances among future customers.
It is based on three fundamental axes: the involvement of hospitality professionals in the prevention of drug addiction, information on drugs and the skills to face conflict situations in relation to consumption.
Some of the main objectives of the course are to provide information on the effects and risks of the abusive consumption of alcohol and the most frequent illegal drugs; learn to detect the effects and risks of alcohol based on the amount consumed; provide information on the legal framework that regulates the sale and supply of alcohol or provide skills to cope with problematic situations related to drug use.
Last Friday, in the classrooms of the CdT Marina Alta of Dénia, the Councilor for Addiction Prevention and Education, Melani Ivars, accompanied by the management team of Maria Ibars, delivered to the students the certificates accrediting the course, signed by the Dénia City Council and the Ministry of Health, through the Government Delegation for the National Plan on Drugs.
The councilor valued the important role of these future professionals as health agents in the prevention of addictions in the hospitality leisure of Dénia. He also stressed the importance of this qualification in the hospitality field to provide a professional and quality service. Finally, Ivars thanked IES Maria Ibars for its involvement, collaboration and willingness to train its students.
