Aitana Mas: «Dénia will have the first public care infrastructure for people with mental health problems in La Marina Alta»

The Vice President and Minister of Equality and Inclusive Policies, Aitana Mas, has stated that "we are collaborating closely with the Dénia City Council to speed up the time to have the new social infrastructures ready as soon as possible". But he has met with the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, to address four projects.

Specifically, it is a specific center for the Mentally Ill (CEEM), a Rehabilitation and Social Integration Center (CRIS) and a new residence and day center for dependent elderly people. In the first case, "it is the first public care infrastructure for people with mental health problems in the region of La Marina Alta”, Aitana Mas highlighted.

More than 16 million for 207 residential, daytime and outpatient beds

The four new social services centers, which represent a global investment of more than 16 million euros, the city of Dénia will have 207 new residential, daytime and outpatient places "to help families and the day to day of many people, both elderly people and people with functional diversity", Mas indicated, pointing out that the three infrastructures "affect the whole of the entire region of La Marina Alta".

Thus, the construction of the CEEM and CRIS on a site located in the Pedrera area of ​​Dénia "has already been awarded and in the coming months we can start the works". Specifically, the CEEM will have a total of 42 residential beds and the CRIS with 45 outpatient beds, and represents a total investment of 6,27 million euros.

New residence and day center for dependent elderly people

With regard to the construction of the new residence and the new day center for dependent elderly people, on a plot of municipal property located on Calle Apolo in the town, with a capacity of 100 residential beds and 20 day center beds . The planned investment is more than 10 million euros.

"We are working closely, coordinated and jointly between the Generalitat and Dénia City Council to have these infrastructures at the service of citizens as soon as possible," said Aitana Mas.

Deficit of public places

The four projects are included in the Social Services Infrastructure Plan 2021-2025 (Pla Convivint) that seeks to provide the Valencian Community with a supply of public resources according to its needs, "that puts an end to the deficit of public places in all sectors dragged for years," especially in day care centers.

It should be remembered that the Convivint Plan provides for a total of 69 actions in different social infrastructures in the province of Alicante, which will mean the creation of 1.700 new places in public centers for the most vulnerable groups, with an investment of nearly 157,7 million euros. euros.

It is a plan that will function as the engine of the Valencian economy from a feminist perspective, based on the revaluation of care and the economy of raising, caring and curing; and foresees that it can generate more than 1.000 new direct jobs only in the province of Alicante.
