The Department of Social Services has informed the Dénia City Council of the official revocation of the delegation to execute the project of the second public residence in the city. This action, contemplated within the Social Services Infrastructure Plan of the Generalitat Valenciana, had funding greater than 9 millones de euros from European funds Next Generation.
The decision, according to the letter received by the council last week, is based on the failure to meet established deadlines, argued by the regional administration as a reason for withdrawing the authority from the City Council. The local government team believes that this delay has been caused by "unjustified" delays and attributed to a "political intentionality" after the change of regional government.
A two-phase execution that was not accepted
The City Council had raised execute the project in two phases, with the aim of adjusting to the available budget, a proposal that, according to the council, was rejected by the Generalitat, which also did not accept an increase in the initial budget allocation. In March, the City Council submitted objections proposing a schedule that guaranteed the Completion of works in the second quarter of 2026However, these claims have not been upheld.
The local government emphasizes that the modification of the original project responded to factors such as price inflation in the construction sector and the need to adapt the building design to the requirements of the new decree of 2023, aimed at improving safety and hygiene and sanitary conditions after the pandemic.
Concerns about the future of the land and possible legal action
The City Council has also expressed its discomfort at the lack of support from the Party local, which he accuses of not having intervened to prevent the loss of the project or having pressured for more funding or to accept the phased execution. He has also shown concerned about the future of municipal land acquired for this infrastructure, and fears that they could be transferred to the private initiative for exploitation.
Following this situation, the Dénia government team has announced that is considering taking legal action in order to protect the interests of the municipality and guarantee the the right of older persons to quality public care. He has also demanded clear explanations on the final destination of European funds initially assigned to this project.
Residency is necessary.
Denia needs infrastructure.
Between a fascist Generalitat and a Catalanist City Council, Denia is lost.
Denia is a city.
And that's what nobody understands.
All my support to the people of Denia.
I don't know why you call the PP fascist or why you call the separatists Catalanists.
Look, this isn't about parties or ideologies or political profiteers. This is about the citizens.
and their priority needs. In the face of this, no parties, no associations, no sexist subsidies, nothing.
FORMALITY AND COMMON SENSE. Anyone who doesn't die, regardless of their party, will grow old, and whether they like it or not, with the current pace, this will mean they will be vulnerable.
WHO SHOULD WE HELP? ANY NEIGHBOR!
I hope that those who do not support their elders today find themselves in the rottenness that I created.
What do these Next Generation funds have to do with a public and social service like a nursing home? They provide money for mobile applications, beach maintenance, etc. They call it the transformation into a Smart City. Nursing homes are a matter for healthcare and social services.
What a shame! This should be a top priority for our city. And we shouldn't let European aid go to waste due to missed deadlines.
All politicians should unite to work in the same direction and not blame each other, as usual. We voted for them to move forward, not to settle.
