8 detainees in Dénia and the region face 8 and 10 years in prison for drug trafficking

Tomorrow Tuesday, in the Provincial Court of Alicante, eight people accused of forming an organized criminal group dedicated to the cultivation and trafficking of marijuana will be tried.

The events took place between July and December 2016 after several neighborhood complaints were registered about the strong smell of marijuana emitted by a Pedreguer home. Based on the neighborhood complaint, a surveillance device was established by which it was determined that the defendants used a house in the Pouets section for planting and the first phase of growth of the plants that, once they reached the weight and measurements necessary, they were transferred to the rest of the houses that the organization used as a warehouse and distribution point for drugs.

In December 2016, the entry and registration of the band's houses in Pedreguer, Dénia and Sagra was agreed, where the agents seized 244 plants, various amounts of different drugs, lamps, extractors and humidity meters, among other items. .

In one of the houses, the defendants had tampered with the electricity meter. In another address, a revolver was found for which the residents of the house did not have permission. The prosecutor requests prison sentences ranging from eight years and six months to ten years and nine months in prison for crimes of belonging to a criminal group, crime against public health, fraud of electricity and illegal possession of weapons.
